Jim Gallagher Memorial Scholastic Tournament

The Jim Gallagher Memorial Scholastic Chess Tournament was held at the San Antonio Academy on 22 May 2004.  Thirty-four children participated in the tournament.  Winner of the Championship (rated players) section was Rheanna English.  The Senior (10-13 yo) section was won by Lawrence Irvin, and the Junior (6-9 yo) section was won by Saul Flores.  The top three finishers in each section received trophies, and all participants received a medal and a gift certificate to Barnes & Noble bookstore, provided by the San Antonio Academy.  In addition to the tournament, drawings were held for chess book prizes, and a simul with NM Alex Weinberg and Rheanna English was held.

Ms. Cathy Cummins hosted the tournament on behalf of the San Antonio Academy.  TDs in attendance were NM Alex Weinberg, Duane Solley, Dee Carter, and Ray Lopez.
